From Virginia, age 90

As a child, Mom and I lived in Grandmom Magdelene’s home. Grandmom raised chickens. She had a beautiful foot-pedal Singer sewing machine. She made my wardrobe out of “Feed Sack” — 100% durable cotton designs of floral prints and stripes. She made mostly skirts, and purchased blouses from the Woolworth 5 & 10 store. A few years in college, “feed sack” clothing was my wardrobe. So very colorful.
